Maintaining your car's appearance isn't just about aesthetics; it's about preserving its value and finish. By using high-quality products and following expert-recommended steps, you can achieve a showroom-quality shine while protecting your car's paintwork.
🧰 Essential Tools & Products
Before you begin, gather the following items:
- pH-balanced car wash soap: Apex Auto Wash – 3.0
- Two buckets: One for Car Shampoo, and One for Wheels
- Grit Guards: for each bucket to trap dirt
- Chenille microfiber wash mitt: Wash Monster - Car Wash Pad
- Microfiber drying towels: Dreadnought MAX XXL
- Wheel cleaner: Furies – Iron Remover & Wheel Cleaner
- Wheel brushes:
- Drying aid: Titan SiO2 Hybrid Detailer
Optional:
- Tire shine FENRIR(Coming Soon)
- Glass cleaner Hydra Rinseless
- Wax: Glossome Wax
🌤️ Step 1: Choose the Right Environment
Wash your car in a shaded area or during cooler parts of the day (early morning or late afternoon) to prevent water spots and soap from drying too quickly.
🛞 Step 2: Clean the Wheels First
One wash bucket for body of the vehicle. The second wash bucket dedicated for Wheels and appropriate tools (you can apply the same amount of shampoo in both). Wheels often harbor the most grime. Use Furies – Iron Remover & Wheel Cleaner with the Barrel Blade Lite - Microfiber Wheel Brush or Wheel Brushes to scrub the tires and rims. Rinse thoroughly before moving on.
💦 Step 3: Pre-Rinse the Vehicle
Use a hose to thoroughly rinse your car from top to bottom. This removes loose dirt and debris, reducing the risk of scratching during washing.
Depending on tools available, if a pressure washer is available, Detailed AF method is to Pre-Foam APEX and allow to dwell without allowing soap to dry on panels.
🪣 Step 4: One-Bucket Wash Method
- Place Grit Guards at the bottom of both buckets to trap dirt.
-
Fill one bucket with water and add 1-2oz of Apex Auto Wash – 3.0 in a 3-5gallon standard bucket.
- Dip the wash mitt into the soapy water, wash a section of the car or panel, then flip mitt to clean section and you can go on to another section of the vehicle. Once both sides of the mitt have been used. Go back to bucket and dunk your mitt and repeat. An alternative option is to have a secondary mitt. Pro Tip: you could also use a product like Flat Out Wash Pad, which comes in a pack of 4. That provides a total of 8 sides and technically you would never "reuse" a mitt on a vehicle.
🧽 Step 5: Wash from Top to Bottom
Start washing from the roof and work your way down. This method ensures that dirt and grime from the lower parts don't contaminate the cleaner upper sections.
🚿 Step 6: Rinse Thoroughly
After washing all sections, rinse the entire car thoroughly to remove all soap residues.
🧴 Step 7: Dry the Car
Use the Dreadnought MAX XXL microfiber drying towel to gently dry the car, starting from the top. You can either slide towel across panel or pat dry instead of rubbing to prevent swirl marks. For added protection and shine, consider using Titan SiO2 Hybrid Detailer as a drying aid.
✨ Optional: Apply Wax
For longer-lasting protection, apply Glossome Wax after drying. This step helps shield your car's paint from environmental contaminants.
By following these steps and using premium products from Detailed AF, you can maintain your car's appearance and protect its finish for years to come and keeping your vehicle Detailed AF.
